The MIRACULOUS MEDAL!

OUR LADY OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL IS TRULY MIRACULOUSFEASTNOVEMBER 27TH; NOVENA:  11/18–11/27:

Get a Miraculous medal, as soon as possible; have a good Priest bless it, and wear it around your neck!

St. Catherine Laboure was a very young and humble religious of the Sisters of Charity, in France when The Blessed Virgin appeared to her for the first time.  The Blessed Virgin told her to have a medal made, which would show The Blessed Virgin standing on a serpent (the devil) with Her Arms outstretched.  From Her Hands flowed rays of light, and on Her Fingers there were diamonds.  Some were brightly shining, and others were not.  Our Blessed Lady said that the diamonds, which were shining, were the graces for which She had been asked (since God sends all graces through Her Hands), and the diamonds, which were not shining, were the graces for which She had not been asked, which were in the majority.  Around the edge of the medal were the words, “O Mary, Conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.”  Later on, after her confessor had told her to ask The Blessed Virgin what was to go on the back of the medal, St. Catherine Laboure asked and was told that the following should be inscribed on it:  a large letter “M” with a cross through it; The Immaculate Heart and The Sacred Heart of Jesus placed beneath it, and twelve stars, starting near the bottom of the medal and going above the “M” and cross and down the other side of the medal.

It took at least two years for St. Catherine Laboure’s confessor to actually go to the Archbishop of Paris and ask him to have the medal struck, probably because the confessor did not know whether to believe St. Catherine Laboure or not.  The Archbishop of Paris had no problem believing this, and he ordered that 1,000 medals be struck.

I believe that the medal was first called the medal of The Immaculate Conception.  But, as I have read, when the plague hit Paris — those, who were wearing this around their necks, lived, and those, who weren’t, died.  That was probably when it began being called the Miraculous medal.

It is NOT magic, but The Blessed Virgin Mary does indeed work through this medal and the prayers, which we address to Her, all subordinate to God’s Will, always.  St. Catherine Laboure’s confessor asked her for what we should ask, and St. Catherine Laboure said, that we should ask for the graces of which we stand in need.  (I also ask for the grace to cooperate with these graces, as well as for the other miracles, which I desire.)

While wearing the medal around our necks, we should pray the “Hail, Mary” (Ave, Maria, gratia plena, Dominus Tecum.  Benedicta Tu in mulieribus, et Benedictus Fructus Ventris Tui, Jesus. / Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.  Amen.  or:  Hail, Mary, Full of grace, The Lord Is with Thee.  Blessed art Thou among women, and Blessed Is The Fruit of Thy Womb, Jesus. / Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death.  Amen.”  Then, we should pray the prayer on the medal:  O Mary, Conceived without sin, pray for us, who have recourse to Thee.”  three times in honor of The Most Blessed Trinity.  We should ask for the graces of which we or others stand in need as well as for other miracles, which we desire, always leaving all up to God’s Will.  Don’t just do this for our Lady’s Feast, but do this every day and in emergencies.  St. Catherine Laboure’s Feast is on November 28th, so please make a novena to her for your intentions, beginning on the 19th, as well.
